Woohooo three chapters this week and surprisingly they are all pretty decent. And first off, it seems the chapter names were different between stream and panda. I go with panda translations as stream has admitted several times they don't actually use the direct translation but rather enjoy spicing up what is being said.

Fairy Tail

Dance Practice

Not much to say on this chapter really. I don't think we will be seeing Jakuwhore for a few days as he stares intently at the pic of Mira in her bra on the first page. Everyone is in formal wear and partying it up. Mega is going crazy over Kagura in a dress wherever he is and everyone is getting drunk. What kind of bothered me was the Gruvia moment. I thought it had been building up to Gray finally accepting Juvia but then he goes and pulls a dick move and flat out says he doesnt care for her. I'm fine if that pairing doesn't happen, whatever, but all the buildup was to him getting together with her. The competition for Yukino was just dumb. She didn't have any interaction with Blue Pegasus or Lamia Scale so not sure why they would be fighting for her. The Mavis with Wendy and Chelia scene was kind of funny though. Mavis is proving to be some of the best comic relief in Fairy Tail.

Erza bribing Millianna with exceed was funny, but thats so overdone now. Everytime something needs to be done with Millianna, they just give her a cat and suddenly she loses all resolve. She needs some more character traits other than that. What I am surprised did not happen at all here was a mention of Jellal. You have Kagura and Millianna who hate Jellal and then Erza who is in love with the guy and the former two know that Erza has been hiding Jellal, yet no mention of this and barely any tension there. Overall this chapter was alright for a cooldown chapter, but there are many things I wish were brought up that were not.

Drop of Time

By far the best of the chapters this week, this one actually took the time to answer a few of the lingering questions we have. First off... dat cover Perv . Kagura has entered the competition for best ass, competing with Ultear. But seriously, this chapter did a lot of things right. As soon as Doranbolt enters, you know something is up. The fact that he would take it upon himself to wipe so many people's memories shows a lot of growth in his character. It also shows how serious what just happened is. Eclipse is magic from the book of Zeref and the royal family used that. If the magic council actually knew that, Fiore would be in crisis.

Then you have Cobra, who returned to prison on his own but warned of Tartaros. I know many of us have been wondering when they would enter the fray and it seems its coming. Judging by the build up, I don't think it would be wrong of me to say they are the strongest dark guild of all. But the shining moment of this chapter was Ultear. I think we all knew she wasn't dead and it seems last ages is the same spell it was in Rave. She used up all of her time and is now an old woman. In a way, I find this to be more saddening than if she had actually died. I hope that they can find some way to return her to her old self, but this was brilliant writing on Mashima's part. He finally decided to stop being so goofy and fun with Fairy Tail and show some actual consequences to everything that these people have done. The emotion surrounding the end of this chapter was fantastic and really what Fairy Tail needed.

Gift

I am just going to skip past the whole Fairy Tail returns to Magnolia part and get on to the meat of the chapter because 1. it was dumb and 2. I don't think anyone really found anything too amazing in the beginning of the chapter. The big part of this chapter was Zeref and Mavis. Zeref has the little monkey thing Obra had so the question is, is he Obra or was the monkey thing just his spy. Anyway, it seems Mavis and Zeref know each other. And while many thought Zeref would turn into an anti hero of sorts, it seems he has resolved to kill everyone, to which Mavis responds that Fairy Tail will stop them. Thats pretty much all there is to the chapter but it was not terrible, it affirmed that Zeref is indeed a villain and he is still planning to destroy everything. I'm more so interested in how Zeref and Mavis know each other, but it seems Zeref is a lot more than we originally thought. He knows Natsu and now Mavis and Mavis knows him. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out

Bleach

Slut Ritters! Okay now that that has been said, you can all stop staring at Candice. Bleach wasn't bad this week, just kind of uneventful. We learned the reason that Uryu was chosen as Yhwach's successor is due to him surviving the purge 9 years ago when Yhwach killed all the non pure blood quincy. But then we lose track of plot and move on to the Slut Ritters, who stole the chapter for many. So now we have Slut Ritters to replace the Slutcars from the Arrancar arc. Really, their appearance in this chapter was little more than fan service, so I did not care for it. Then the scene switches to Orihime and Sado and I got my hopes up. I thought Kubo may finally show Grimmjow's face but nope, he didn't even appear. Though with Urahara at the end, you know something is coming.

Winner

So, a lot of chapters here, lets go in order of worst to best.

Worst is Dance Practice. It was a cooldown chapter that didn't move the plot at all. Yeah, it was fun seeing everyone all dressed up but because it didn't do anything, it was the worst of the lot this week.

Second worst is Gift. The entire thing about Fairy Tail returning to Magnolia was as bad as Dance Practice as a whole. It was unneeded and not interesting. The saving grace of this chapter was the interaction of Mavis and Zeref. It raises a lot of questions but also alludes to something more interesting.

Next is Bleach. While nothing too interesting happened, it did advance the plot in two ways. First, we learn why Yhwach is so interested in Uryu. That was a question on my mind since last time. Secondly, we finally see whats been going on with Urahara. He has been in Hueco Mundo for countless chapters now so its about time we learned what was going on there. It seems we will likely be getting some Urahara action in the upcoming chapters. And by likely, I mean that we will not be seeing Urahara again for at least 50 chapters.

Finally, the best this week was Drop of Time. So many questions answered, so many things were built up to and Ultear as an old woman. Truly a great chapter and one of the best in a while.
