The Tartaros Guild (タルタロス Tarutarosu 冥府の門 lit. Underworld Gate) is one of the three major Dark Guilds and a member of the Balam Alliance, alongside Oracion Seis and Grimoire Heart. They compromised of seven incredibly powerful mages.

Goals

When they first appeared on Mysterious 5 Arc, their goal is the same with Grimoire Heart was to acquire all the keys supposed to be used to unlock Zeref. After Hades death in the hands of Zeref, they suddenly change their goals(knowing Hades death & they learn that Zeref is already on his conscious state. One of their goal is to spy the council from within so they can watch every council's move(so they've decided one of the Tartaros member should enter the council to accomplished that goal). In the past 7 years, they didn't make a move and later revealed that their main goal is to find the whereabouts of Zeref & to destroy Fairy Tail.

Strength Edit
As a member of the Balam Alliance, Tartaros is acknowledged as one of the four most powerful Dark Guilds in Earthland. The testament of their power is one of its members managed to enter the council and chosen as one of the Ten Wizard Saints. Even Renelle stated that their power is equal or greater to Grimoire Heart members. Many of its most prominent mages have been shown to be incredibly powerful such as Zachary managed to wound Erza Scarlet, even Erza herself claimed that each of them are powerful to the point that she used her Purgatory Armor one of her strongest armor while her enemy is not serious at that time.
History Edit
The guild was created by a man named Zefiris, he is the former apprentice of Hades Guild Master of Grimoire Heart. While training, Hades saw him a potential to lead a strong guild. Hades is the one who encouraged him to create a guild. Zefiris proceed to gather young boys and girls with Strong Magic Potential such as Steiner Clifford and he spent years to trained them to complete the Team Tartaros. Some of the greatest mages under his command, it was later revealed that Hades contribute to their growth, taught them Lost Magic.
