Talons[]

From what I've read in the most recent chapter, Wendy cast a spell called "Talons of the Sky Dragon". The user waves her arms in a clockwise direction and powerful winds emerge to blow enemy targets away. Although its translation is exactly the same as "Claws of the Sky Dragon", it's very different once it is performed. Why isn't it included in the list of offensive spells? This is merely an observation and it's okay with me if no one's gonna act on it. Thanks! --112.203.6.214 12:27, June 28, 2012 (UTC)

That was mistranslated. That spell was Sky Dragon's Wing Attack RelikzTalk PageTalk 12:32, June 28, 2012 (UTC)

Enchantments vs. Dragon Slayer Magic[]

I was arguing with my friend for a while and he always says "wikia is absolute and irrevocable, so I came to ask you for an opinion.

In the case of a person who is a Sky Dragon Slayer, regardless of whether Wendy or not, she also turns out to be Enchanter, right? It is what I could understand by this passage in Wikia: "These support-boosting abilities are a type of enchantment, which effectively make Sky Dragon Slayer double as an" Enchanter "(加 術士 術士 Enchantā). If that is the case, the spellcaster can use Enchantment spells, however, Wendy can not use all of them because she has no power to do so. Am I right with the rationale?

It is that my friend says that Wendy is a Sky Dragon Slayer and a Enchanter, that is, not being the enchantments related to Grandeeney. He states that anyone else who had Sky Dragon Slayer Magic, according to the wikia texts, could not access the enchantment spells.

Which of the two thoughts are correct? I look forward to an answer.Erishuka (talk) 12:53, January 19, 2017 (UTC)

Well... a fellow admin and I had quite the lengthy discussion about this matter. The gist of it was whether the supportive spells that Grandeeney taught to Wendy are a part of the Sky Dragon Slayer Magic or not. Up until Irene's introduction, there was no doubt that pretty much everything that Wendy did was indeed Sky DSM; spells like Vernier had 'wind' mentioned in its incanation and both anime series pretty much designed those spells to be a part of Sky DSM, given their color and the magic seal.

It wasn't until Tartaros arc that the existence of Enchantments was made apparent (at least as far as I remember), when Ezel called Wendy an 'enchanter' as she used Deus Corona and Deus Eques for the first time. However, it was still considered to be something that Grandeeney possible taught to Wendy. And the anime kept the spells green, to go with the Milky Way theme perhaps.

Literally the only issue is Irene suddenly using the same spell as Wendy; Deus Zero. Honestly, I feel it is kind of an oversight on Mashima's part, or he simply didn't care enough to specify things. He was never into categorization too much, unfortunately.

So what does that mean? Can Irene use Sky Dragon Enchantments, being 400 years old? That may be a possibility, but we cannot state such a thing because it'd be a speculation. So does that make all Deus spells just regular Enchantments? Possibly, but why would Grandeeney teach a non-DS magic to Wendy when her main purpose was to go against Acnologia?

So, in the end, we just decided to put up Deus Zero as both a regular enchantment - since Irene used it - and a Sky DS enchantment as per Wendy and Grandeeney. The other option was to remove all Deus spells from Sky DS magic, but I didn't really like that idea, that'd feel like a huge retcon to me.

Finally, to answer your (and your friend's) question, if we assume that spells like Arms or Vernier are Sky DS Magic and Enchantments at the same time, and there is another Dragon Slayer who undergoes the same kind of training as Wendy did, then yes, they should be called Sky DS mages and/or Enchanters, however, it should be assumed that no regular Enchanters should have access to those spells as Sky DS magic is supposed to be a lost magic at this point.

I wouldn't go as far as to claim that the wiki is always correct... mistakes happen, so do not hesitate to point them out, but we can only work with the information that the series provides us with. Just that this case is rather confusing, to the point of being contradicting to what we've seen in the series so far. It's hard to try make sense of things sometimes. ( ._.) Arms, Armo(u)r and Vernier were called Enchantments in the Tenrou Island arc. Battle against Precht. --Sane Lunatic (talk) 14:49, January 19, 2017 (UTC)
Oho, I stand corrected. Miskos3 Message 15:08, January 19, 2017 (UTC)
