Ajeel's magic, Sand Magic or Sandstorm?[]
Hello guys.
As far as I know, Ajeel's magic should be changed into Sandstorm. It's a rule in this wiki that Sand Magic should apply to users only if they're able to control sand ONLY, while Sandstorm also does it but it lets the user change his body into sand.
We know that Ajeel can transform into sand and travel using it. So isn't it correct if we change his magic into Sandstorm? I'm glad to hear your thoughts :) 49.144.230.150 04:51, August 15, 2015 (UTC) a
Ok I don’t see how both Sand Magic and Sandstorm can both exist. As even what is written is on both pages, with only subtle differences and mostly just how it’s written. Like everything Max can do with Sandstorm Ajeel can do with Sand Magic. Both can turn into Sand, can make constructs of sand, and attack with it. The official manga called Max's magic as Sandstorm, it is labeled in chapter 59's cover as seen here so its existence is canon, Ajeel was shown to be using sand magic and was labeled as that due to the existence of sand magic in the fairy tail universe and the manga never mentioned anything to contradict it, the manga also never mentioned that he is using sandstorm so calling his magic into something more specific but the official sources never did is speculation.
What the other user is saying that its a wiki rule that sand magic should only be used by people who only controls magic is not true and saying that mages who can turn their body into sand means they are using sandstorm is also speculation since the official manga never said that sandstorm is the only magic that can make it's user turn to sand, laxus can turn his body to lightning but the manga never mentioned it being under dragon slayer magic and he was known to be a lightning mage before the reveal, juvia can turn her body into water but as the official manga have revealed her magic is called Water, its japanese characters were written differently compared to other mages that uses water magic. None of those were decided by the wiki just because they can turn their body to their element.
In the end the wiki only uses information provided by the official manga, If mashima himself made efforts to create multiple version of an elemental magic then we cant disregard it based on our personal opinions. Keep in mind mashima made various magic that also uses the same elements, fire has fire magic, purple flare, rainbow fire, fire dragon slayer & fire god slayer, Plant magic also have green magic, Plant which is a holder version and spelled in katakana different from how they spelled plant magic & vegetable magic, aquarius can use water magic while juvia can use Water which is spelled in katakana and different from water magic.
Sandstorm being the base spell for max's sand magic is speculation too coz it was never said that it was. All we know is that max use sand magic, then the manga provided his profile and showed that his magic is called sandstorm, then kurohebi copied his magic and used it differently from him but it is still under sandstorm. So based on the official sources his magic is called sandstorm while ajeel's is just sand magic since the official manga never called it sandstorm similar to how sol, scorpio and snarl used sand magic without being mentioned that they used sandstorm magic.LightningGeist

That’s fine. I just thought it was weird, as while all those you listed are different variations of same groups of magic. With Sandstorm and Sand Magic there doesn’t seem to be anything differentiating between the two. As with fire each one is a use of a different kind of fire. With Water vs Water Magic, Water main difference is making the Caster water. The same could be said about Air and Wind Magic. Air appears to use the properties of air while Wind Magic manipulates wind currents. With the plant Magics, each one makes different kinds of plants and in different manners from Caster to Holder types. It made me think Sandstorm was just a spell of Max and not how whole magic practice as both do the same things and don’t “appear” to have anything separating them minus the cover art with Max’s Magic and translation.[[User:Twilight Despair 5|]] ([[The God of Creation]]) (talk) 17:03, December 18, 2018 (UTC)
I agree aside from the name they seems to be similar unfortunately mashima made it a point that they are named differently, then again some might say mashima tend to be inconsistent with some details about his works anyway so if he kept making stuffs up and make things vague we cant do anything than take it as it is. lol LightningGeist 17:26, December 18, 2018 (UTC)
