Magic Name[]

So...I was wondering if Nekousoku Tube (Cat Binding Tube) is the best Magic Name. I mean, Millianna uses Nekousoku Tube as a spell that binds the foe. And Kitten Blast has nothing to do with binding. Just wanted to see your thoughts about this <_< ErikTheCat BoyTalk Page 20:55, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

I don't understand what you are asking. Are you asking if Nekusoku Tube is a spell? RelikzTalk PageTalk 02:27, March 17, 2013 (UTC)

We talked about this extensively on chat, and yeah, that's what he's asking. His logic is that because Millianna says "Nekosoku Tube" when she uses it, that means that it's a spell, not a Magic.

That doesn't mean it's a spell. RelikzTalk PageTalk 20:26, March 17, 2013 (UTC)
Well what is it then? I mean, it is translated as Cat Binding Tube and Kitten Blast has nothing to do with binding ._. ... And if we follow your logic, Water Magic should be called Water Slicer/Nebula/Cyclone/Etc. ._. That is my opinion..ErikTheCat BoyTalk Page 17:38, March 18, 2013 (UTC)
My logic? O_O all I said that was that it doesn't mean it's a spell, not that it was a definitely spell and there was no other way RelikzTalk PageTalk 22:12, March 18, 2013 (UTC)

The Magic's name is Nekōsoku Tube, and it's application is mentioned in the Description (conjuring a Magical rope which they then fling at the target and bind them etc etC). Using those very tubes, Millianna utilized Kitten Blast, which is classified as a Spell. Does not need to get any more complicated than that

Talk pages are for important changes relating to the article. If you want to ask questions, we have an answers wiki for that. Anyways, I think Umnei has already given a good enough answer, has he not? Or is there some change you might want to suggest?ÉclairUltraprime2Let's talkMystogan 18:02, March 18, 2013 (UTC)

Minor Name Change[]

In contrary to the previous topic discussed, I will be proposing a name change that was indicated from Vol 11 Del Ray of Fairy Tail.

In the Translation Notes, Mashima states that Millianna's attack in japanese is spelt as Ne-kôsoku Tube. How does everyone feel about that name? It is Del Ray and this paragraph explaining it seems to be written in first person (from Mashima himself) but Del Ray seemingly has had minor translation issues and this could be one of them.

Thoughts?

Oppose Oppose - "Neko" doesn't sound or look very, well, Neko with the hyphen.

I'd prefer Binding Magic. so what was her nekosoku tube in the first place? just the name of the tubes but not the magic? Relikz TalkUser Talk 04:45, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

A pun on Neko (Cat) and by adding "Ne" in front of "kō". ChaosKnight 04:47, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Oh wait a minute i get it. now I see why the discussion above made sense XD Relikz TalkUser Talk 04:52, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Uhg... Thanks for wasting 15 minutes of my time Leli. Unblocking yourself when you have to refresh every Wikia page 5 times takes seriously long and when your father is screaming at you to get in the car you have no time for that!! #Ventinganger #Notimetoplayaround Anyways, I like Binding Magic more, though if/when it is changed we should note that she uses that pun, hence the spell sounding different/being named slightly differently.
☆°・*CarrotSays...*・°☆ 06:00, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Couldn't we keep the original name and just point out what it means in english? NoNickNeeded (talk) 08:41, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

I feel like there's a pun in that name as well.. binding magic; as if it's stopping the user from using magic. :P ..::ShinShinTo::. 09:26, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Support Support - Binding Magic. Didn't even know about this discussion.
MegaPanchamTalk 22:09, January 26, 2014 (UTC)

Support Support - This would technically be official. With that said, does that make Nekosoku Tube a spell, a spell of Binding Magic?
:Umnei:Talk to me! 22:23, January 26, 2014 (UTC)

Oppose Oppose - I really don't want to lose the pun, so I'm for keeping the japanese name, maybe with an added dash. NoNickNeeded (talk) 00:26, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

Support Support - I'd move the pun to Trivia section Miskos3 Message 00:33, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

Support Support - Binding Magic. This is the "official" official name anyway. The tubes are a bi-product of the Magic, not a spell. And her obsession with cats is why she calls it Nekosoku Tube, so trivia it goes! \( ._.)/
WrathYou...wanna talk.Zero 01:00, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

I can accept naming her Magic "Binding Magic" but throwing "Nekosoku Tube" down to the Trivia is a bit odd to me. It truly does sound like a Spell name as opposed to a little pun she uses, especially since it has it's own Kanji and Romaji and is always called out. Plus, despite it being a pun of "kosoku", she uses the word "Tube", which is completely outside the realm of a pun if it's stated that her Magic name is "Binding Magic". It would keep things organized, especially since Kodansha calls it "In-Cat-Ceration" Tube. Would this need a seperate discussion or can we just conclude it here?
:Umnei:Talk to me! 10:52, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

Usually I'm not a big fan of Kodansha's translations, but this one I like a lot. NoNickNeeded (talk) 12:06, January 27, 2014 (UTC)
I thought we'd just mention that she gives it a neko prefix, nothing else. Miskos3 Message 12:07, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

Support Binding Magic -, but I'm up for it being mentioned as Trivia :)
RavenMestSting Anime Square(S)talk17:13,1/27/2014

Actually, Nekōsoku Tube is a spell of Binding Magic... ChaosKnight 19:51, January 30, 2014 (UTC)

Ah I see.. I guess Nekosoku Tube should be re-created as a new page since this is already renamed. This page will also have to have a different description.
