Description
Edit
Dragon Slayer magic was, as the name implies, originally used for slaying dragons. Each dragon slayer uses their form of magic, just like each dragon is a master of their own element. [1]A Dragon Slayer also has the ability to eat their own element; doing so also rejuvenates them.[2]
There are three generations of Dragon Slayers, The First Generation, the true practitioners, who learn from dragons, The Second Generation, who have Lacrima crystals implanted into themselves, although it is only an imitation of the actual Magic, and The Third Generation that's the combination of both previous generations.[3] Dragon Slayer Magic has limitless functions in Edolas, and is valued as a priceless resource for everyday uses.[4]
It seems that, for some reason, all Dragon Slayers of an advanced "level" share a weakness in motion sickness.[5] At lower "levels" this isn't such a problem as shown with Gajeel prior to the time-skip, riding on the Super Mage Giant Phantom MK II and the ship to Tenrou Island with no problem. However, after three months of intense training, he is now vulnerable to motion-sickness. The only ones who don't seem to have this problem are Wendy and Cobra. This weakness doesn't seem to count when riding "comrades".[6]
It should be noted that while Dragon Slayers can use Dragon Slayer Magic, it doesn't mean they can only use Dragon Slayer Magic.[7] Indeed, while the First Generation tends to use Dragon Slayer as their primary form of magic, the Second Generation has been shown to use it as a secondary or back-up magic.
