Universe One is the 489th chapter of Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail.

Enraged, August conjures a pillar of light that decimates the Fairy Tail Mages, while at the guild hall, Cana successfully frees the First Master's true body. In the wasteland, Irene and Acnologia engage in battle, but the Scarlet Despair soon decides to end their bout with her new era Magic: Universe One.

Summary

August manifests his fury

Due to Mest's treachery, August refuses to negotiate any further with the Fairy Tail delegation and immediately unleashes his true power, knocking out Brandish before assaulting the others with a massive explosion, its radiance visible even in Magnolia. Witnessing the awesome sight, Makarov and his Mages can do nothing but worry for their comrades. Meanwhile, Cana succeeds in destroying Mavis' Thought Projection, finally freeing the maiden's body from the lacrima it had been imprisoned in. As Cana cradles her body in concern, Mavis claims that her body's muscles have been severely weakened.

Elsewhere, Irene bars Acnologia's way, the high enchantress' techniques impressing the Black Dragon. The former also praises her opponent's power to be something worth being frightened of, but wonders whether even he could stand up to Zeref once the Black Wizard obtains Fairy Heart. Acnologia derides the idea of a human ever approaching his greatness and refuses to stay out of Zeref's way until he achieves his goal.

	Irene's Magic is visible even in Hargeon

Irene admits that Acnologia's involvement is a large obstacle for her Empire, especially since their Emperor refuses to treat the war as anything more than a game. However, she intends to rectify her sovereign's views as well as bring her current confrontation to an end and begins to prepare to cast a potent Magic, a Magic even the 400-year old Dragon King is unfamiliar with. The Scarlet Despair proclaims the Magic to be that of a new era, even as Acnologia realizes that the female Mage is enchanting the very earth itself. As a bright light envelopes the entirety of the country of Fiore, Irene introduces herself to her opponent and expresses her wish to meet him again, finally casting Universe One.
