Dead End of Despair is the 229th chapter of Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail.

Enraged, Juvia convinces Erza that she alone will be enough for the young Mage. While at first having the upper hand, Meredy uses her Sensory Link to level the playing field, linking Juvia and Gray's senses. Taking the fight to the next level, Meredy then links her senses with Gray's as well, cornering Juvia, as now she cannot hurt Meredy without hurting Gray as well...

SummaryEdit

Juvia, hearing Meredy threatening the life of Gray Fullbuster, becomes enraged. Despite Erza trying to calm her down, Juvia claims she can't be calm after what she heard and strikes Meredy with a powerful blast of water. With Juvia dominating throughout the battle, Erza is surprised to see Juvia's true power, commenting that it's different from their earlier battle. Juvia then asks Erza to find Wendy and Gray, to which Erza complies. Meredy tries to stop her from leaving, but is stopped by a Water Slicer attack from Juvia. The two then resume their battle.

Elsewhere, Gray, who continues to stalk Ultear, wonders if she is going to regroup with the Master of Grimoire Heart.

Meanwhile, in a rocky region of the Tenrou Island, Azuma meets up with Rustyrose and the two share their experience against members of Fairy Tail, with Rustyrose saying that the Fairy Tail members were weak and Azuma saying that their strength shouldn't be underestimated.

Back at the battleground between Juvia and Meredy, Meredy comments on how both she and Juvia feel differently about Gray. As she states that she is lucky to have met someone that has strong feeling towards her ultimate target, Juvia asks what she means. Meredy then links Juvia and Gray's senses together. As she attacks Juvia, Gray feels pain, with Meredy explaining that it's her lost Magic. Though Juvia is initially happy at the thought of being bonded with Gray, Meredy states they'll share feelings, including all the pain they would suffer. Enraged by Meredy's resolution, Juvia's Magic grows and she counterattacks against Meredy. In desperation, Meredy links herself to Juvia, and reveals that no matter who dies in that battle, Gray will die.
